After a really busy day on Saturday, we just relaxed for a few days. On Sunday, you weren't feeling well so the 3 of us hung out at home. We played, we took a family nap and we did silly things. We made homemade chocolate chip ice cream. We used the egg whites to make an angel food cake and you loved that batter. We worked on perfecting my chicken salad recipe - we are getting closer.
On Monday, you hung out with Gramma Debbie then we were boring at home. Eat, play, sleep. You crashed on my lap around 7:30. We were talking and playing then all of a sudden, you were buried in me and sleeping. I think you still weren't feeling well and needed some extra sleep.
On Tuesday, you woke me up at 5:30. We watched tv, we played, we took a bath, we had a banana and cereal. After all that, it still wasn't time to go to Mary's but daddy took you anyway. I could tell you were getting tired. She called me about 45 minutes later asking if I had given you any medicine as you were passing out on your highchair. I let her know how tired you were. You took an hour nap in the morning and a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. Way to go Elijah!
Daddy and I picked you up for your 15 month checkup. You are growing like you should - 44.75% weight (24 lbs), 87% height (33") and 85% head. You used to be in the 95% height category but you must be slowing down dude!! She did find an ear infection so we are back on antibiotics again. Next ear infection gets us sent to ENT to investigate tubes in your ears. I would guess that will happen in the next two months.
After the doctor, we had our senior citizen traditional dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Our dr appointments are normally at 4 and we have dinner at 4:30. You did great at dinner and you ate well. Then, it was back home, play, drive Gramma Ruth and Andrew to a play, play, crash early again.
You have started doing something so funny. It kills me. When you bit me or your daddy, we will take 2-3 fingers and we will tap/pop your mouth and say "No bite." So, when I see you go to bite me, I will say "Don't you bite me Elijah." You look up and now you start smacking yourself in the mouth. Too funny.
You are obsessed with my sunflower seeds addiction. You want in on that action so badly. But, you can't have them.
Finally, you have devised a new form of eating your snacks. You will grab three crackers out of a box. You will give one to Luke, one to Padi and then one for Elijah. It is so nice of you to share with the dogs. First step in training you to share with others I guess!
On the topic of eating, you are loving playing with forks, spoons and big boy glasses. We are going to have to start working with you more to get you up to speed on how to use them. Right now, you are just starting to learn the basics and it is still fun for you.
That is about it buddy. Share more this weekend :)

Busy Day!
Hi buddy!
We had a whirlwind of a day today, didn't we? You woke up and daddy fed you breakfast - banana, bacon and french toast :) Then, we went straight to Cocokeys for some swimming. You were really weary at first - it was the first time you walked in water. You liked watching all the kiddos and you seemed to enjoy the lazy river. We swam for about an hour and then you were tired!
After we left Cocokeys, daddy needed a Starbucks fix so we ran through the drive thru. We bought you a piece of coffee cake. You are such a slave driver. I would hand you a piece and when you were done eating it, you would start smacking your lips at me that you were ready for more. Your daddy and I laughed at you!
After your huge 3 hour nap, it was lunch time and you had fun. We put your new full body bib on you and let you go to town with our Malaras leftovers. You sure enjoyed making a mess!
To end our day, Gramma Debbie took you out to visit Great Gramma Marianne because she is in the rehab center. You brightened her day! After we picked you up, we got some Chinese food for dinner then you were ready for bed. You weren't fussy with Gramma Debbie but she said you weren't yourself. You are sneezing and your nose is running. I really hope you are not coming down with something AGAIN. I hope you are back to yourself in the morning!

Boring Week
Hi Elijah!
You may have been busy this week with all your social activities but overall, it was a boring week! We didn't do a whole lot - we stayed home and ate, played and slept :)
On Monday, Uncle Zachary had his first day of nanny duty. You were teething so you were kind of shy. Mary said you just wanted to be held and you wanted Uncle Zachary to hold you too. When I was in the room, you were playing and being on your own. It is so funny because everyone tells us how much you want to be held but you never want to be held at home. I don't know if it is because you like your toys here or you just manipulate people but you act differently here! After your nap & dinner, we took you & your puppies for a walk in your red wagon that you got for your birthday. You loved it! It was nice to be outside and good for me & Joey to go on a walk!
Tuesday was over Grampa Keith's and you played outside because it was so nice out. When you got home, I tried to take you outside after dinner to play. You did great in the driveway...for a few minutes. Then, you wanted to go in the backyard and in our neighbor's yard. I couldn't chase you so we had to come back in the house.
Wednesday was over Gramma Debbie's and you were in a great mood! She said it was the best time you & her have ever had together. We played and then it was bed time.
Thursday was fussy pants day! You were over Grampa's and fell asleep for only a few minutes before daddy picked you up. Heather got this great photo of you with Grampa. I love that sweater and you are so cute crashed on Grampa. Heather said that he rubbed your belly & you were out.
When you got home, you were so fussy. We tried getting you to sleep again but it didn't work. I think you were hungry because once you ate, you were happy Elijah again. We played and you had an early night. You crawled up on my lap and went to sleep with no fuss. It has been a long time since you fell asleep on me and I have missed that snuggle time. It was so nice to love you up and admire you when you were out like a light :) I realized I have to cherish every moment because you are getting so big and Joey will grow just as fast as you did!
On Friday, Uncle Zachary drove you to Great Gramma's and then we went out to dinner at Malaras. Mommy needed out of the house! You did a great job at Malaras - you didn't fuss and you ate well! You have learned a new word this week and we started hearing it today. All of a sudden, we heard you say "Uh-Oh." Too funny. You used it appropriately a couple of times but then you just uttered it throughout the night for fun :) Kind of like Da-da - you know who he is and you call him dad. But, you also scream it just for fun too. I snapped this photo of you at the restaurant tonight - silly billy.
That is about all I have for you. We don't have any solid plans for the weekend so hopefully, we can talk daddy into doing something fun :)

Busy Busy!
Hi Elijah!
We sure have been busy this week, haven't we? You spent time with Gramma Debbie and Grampa Keith after daycare. You played outside a lot at daycare. You got all banged and bruised while playing outside! When you get tired, you don't walk as well so you fall a lot. At home, it is ok. When you are outside playing, you get scraped up.
On Thursday, we went over Gramma Debbie's for her St. Patrick's Day celebration. You were the star of the show just walking around showing off. You had your first corned beef & potatoes dinner. You had a great time!
On Friday, we ran errands and had Spaghetti Works for dinner. Then, we played in the driveway a bit and went to the park. You liked being at the park but you sure are my son. You made the same noise on the swing that I do on roller coasters. You had fun on the slide and walking around. We topped the night off with a malt. Daddy and I agreed that you drank 1/3 of each of ours :)
On Saturday, we went to Lincoln to see Auntie Becky & Uncle Steve. You went to the park with them too. After your visit, we went to Lost in Fun. It is an indoor play center in Lincoln. You had a lot of fun there but I think it was overwhelming to you. There were so many kiddos there and so many things to do in such a small place that you didn't know where to turn :)
On Saturday night, I really enjoyed a few minutes with you. We shared a bowl of cereal and you were so silly. You gave me like 4 kisses and I didn't even have to ask. You were teasing me and being silly. It was just a special few minutes that can't truly be documented but made my heart full.
Today, we all had breakfast together. We put you in your new full body bib and I just let you go at it with your yogurt and spoon. You seemed to thoroughly enjoy yourself.
Afterwards, we went to the swing set store. You loved running around "talking" to the kids of the other shoppers that were there. You played on all their sets and your mommy & daddy signed the paperwork to get you & Joey a new swingset. You are going to take the whole lower deck of our backyard. You will get all new rubber mulch and a swingset that looks like this on April 11:

You won't have that little rope wall to go up and your slide is flat but you have a rock wall, 3 swings, a tire and then stairs/metal chain wall. We were so surprised because we figured that you would not know how to do a rock wall for a few years. Daddy helped you a bit and you pushed/pulled yourself up the rock wall at the store!!
As I write this, you are sleeping and we are going to the Lucas house when you wake up. You are going to play with the girls while I visit with Kim. As far as I know, we have no plans all week or weekend so we will just hang out and count the days until our swingset arrives :)

Master manipulator ... Part 2
Hi Elijah!
Tonight was Auntie Val's last night in Omaha so you hung out with her and Gramma for awhile. Mommy and daddy ran to Target. When we came to pick you up, the funniest thing happened.
You probably don't remember but when you were in my tummy, I would tell you all sorts of scary tales about Gramma being strict and smacking me upside the head. I told you that she probably wouldn't treat you that way but she was strict with us. Tonight, you had pulled the magnets off the fridge and she told you that you were a bad boy for throwing them on the ground, "Bad Boy." You turned and looked at her and gave her one of your cutest smiles. She tried to keep her face stern as long as she could but she had to turn her head, cover her mouth and laugh. It was so funny to see my strict gramma trying to teach you something and chastise you but then be overthrown by your cuteness :) I have no doubt that I would have gotten a swat on the butt but you & Jake seem to get a pass on your orneriness :)
I am so glad you get to spend time with Gramma. I hope that you will have lots of great memories of your Fridays with her.

Master Manipulator....
Hi you evil child...
I will be honest. I know you manipulate me. I know when you are doing it. I know I give in because I love you so much. But, today, you got your daddy. I told him we are the worst parents ever! We were at Walmart and it was crazy busy. You were walking around and you conned daddy into buying you a new ball. 14.5 months and you made your first check out lane manipulation. And, daddy says I am the soft one in this household :)
You had a busy weekend this weekend. On Saturday, you went to bowling with your cousin and then you accompanied Daddy & Andrew to get a hair cut. After your nap, we visited Auntie Val and Gramma for a bit. On Sunday, daddy cleaned all day and you played. You and I played in your room together. Well, you played in your room and I went through all your clothes to get them cleaned out. Sweet Jesus Elijah - I had no idea you had so many clothes and so many that were too small. We weeded them all out and now there is some room in your drawers. I still have to stuff them all in space bags and get them shrunk down but at least we know everything in your drawers fits. I think we are good for summer. We bought you some sandals and cute shorts and t-shirts. For anything else, we will be hitting up the consignment store :)
Right now, daddy is STILL cleaning, I just finished making a cake & doing the dishes (it was so lonely to make a cake without you buddy - I am used to your "help" now) and you are over visiting Auntie Val and Gramma. I am going to get you in a second. I hope you were good for them because you were definitely a demon child when we left you - you needed a nap really bad.
Some random things from this weekend....
- I gave you some broccoli for dinner tonight and you liked it. You also liked cottage cheese at Gramma's. I have to try to make a concerted effort to give you foods I don't like because you may love them.
- When you were eating the broccoli, you held up your pinkie finger just like your daddy does. I told him (once again) that no DNA test is needed on you kid :)
- I seriously can't think of anything better in this world than when you grab my face with both your hands and give me a hug and kiss. While we were at dinner, you reached up behind you to grab daddy's head and started puckering up. SO CUTE!
- You are starting to make new noises when you eat. It is so funny. You are smacking your lips when you want more food. I love it.
- You had a great time hanging out with your cousin Andrew yesterday. You guys played together for a long time!
Well buddy, not much going on this week. You will hang out with Gramma, Grampa and Great Gramma. On Thursday, we are going to the doctor to see baby Joey. We will also probably go over Gramma Debbie's for St. Patrick's Day. On Saturday, I think we are going down to see Auntie Becky.
Have a good week!

Feeling better!
Hi Baby!
Thank goodness - you were finally feeling better this week. Your cooties seemed to have cleared up and you were back to your ornery and lovable self. I love it when you are feeing better and not sick.
Let's see - what did we do this week? Well, Sunday, you hung out with the Beatys while mommy & daddy went to the hospital to check on Joey. They said you had a great time and the enjoyed having you. You hung out with both Gramma Debbie and Grampa Keith after daycare. We went out to dinner on Wednesday and had ice cream afterwards. You didn't care about the ice cream because they had a little kids table with blocks so you just played while mommy & daddy pigged out. You got to see Auntie Val on Thursday and we had dinner with her & Great Gramma. On Friday, we went to the mall and did Build a Bear for Joey. You did a great job helping build the puppy for your little brother. We are working on teaching you to blow kisses. As of tonight, you were making the noise!
I am not sure what our weekend holds but I can only hope that you remain feeling great for many weeks to come :) I will leave you with some photos.

You were a pancake head on Tuesday. Apparently, you decided that your breakfast pancakes would be better on your head. Even after we gave you a bath, you still smelled like syrup!
You being silly with daddy at Rojas on Wednesday. You ate a ton little piggy!
As soon as we showed you Joey's puppy at Build a Bear, you grabbed it and gave it a big hug.
You didn't even cry when you had to hand it over to the lady to fill it.
You helped press the foot peddle to fill up the puppy.
This one makes me tear up! With each Build A Bear, you stuff a little heart inside that says "I love you." You did a great job stuffing the heart in and we said "I love you Joey" as you did it.
All done - gotta give the puppy more lovin!
Final product after we bought the clothes. We made it a rockin' puppy! Joey is inside rockin' & rollin'!
Finally, here is our calendar for February - I am bit behind in showing it to you.

Long week...
Hey buddy...
We have had a really rough week, haven't we? Your small cooties turned into big ones and the whole house is sick. On Monday, Mary had us come pick you up at 3. On Tuesday & Wednesday, you stayed home. Daddy watched you Tuesday & I watched you Wednesday. You did go to daycare on Thursday but at night, you were sick and just wanted to cuddle with me. On Friday, you made it an hour at daycare and I went to get you. Daddy came home 1/2 day to hang out with you.
I hate it when you are sick, buddy. This has probably been the worst one yet. Part of it is because all of us were sick and miserable but this is the most miserable you have been. I hate hearing you cough and seeing your eyes all droopy. I hate you crying because you are miserable. I told your daddy that I would take it away from you if I could but since I have Joey cooking in there, it is all on him to take the illness for the family :)
The other thing going on is that I am having a really hard time with managing you and growing Joey. You are getting so big and lifting you is starting to cause me problems with the pregnancy. I thought that it was because I overdid it on Tuesday all day with you but it has continued all week. I get pains even after picking you up one time. It is so hard on us both, isn't it? It is hard on you because you are a mama's boy and you want your mama to pick you up. It is hard on me because I want to pick you up and love you up but I have to be careful to keep your brother safe for lots more weeks. Daddy is already picking up the slack but it is going to be an adjustment for us.
Because I am having problems, we are making arrangements to get help for you from that 4-5:30 time. Grampa Keith is going to start getting you on Tuesdays & Thursdays. You will still hang out with Great Gramma on Fridays. Gramma Debbie is going to try to get you as many Mondays & Wednesdays as possible. Finally, we have hired Uncle Zachary as a nanny for you. He will help load you in the car and play with you until daddy gets home. Outside of that 4-5:30 window, you and daddy are going to have to learn to be best friends for quite a few weeks. We need your brother to stay in there cooking for at least 14 more weeks.
Even sick, you are walking up a storm. It is starting to be the majority of your transportation. You even ran down the hall today & daddy said it was the funniest thing ever. You can tell it is still new to you because you are still proud of yourself.
We are working on your body parts and I thought for sure that you had figured out noses today. I said "Where is daddy's nose?" and you pointed right to it. But, I think it was an accident :) You are saying "NO" more often and now, you are even shaking your head "No." Gotta love it when my 14 month old is already saying "NO."
Finally, we have started trying to decide what we are going to do for beds. You were feeling better tonight so we went to look at them. The regular twin beds just seemed so darn big for you! We finally found the toddler beds and I think we are going to go that route. They had a little princess bed and you crawled right into it and thought it was pretty cool. While we won't get you the princess bed, the size of it seemed perfect. Our only fear is that you are going to crawl right out of it when you are fussy. We are going to get it in a month or so and give you a chance to get used to it. Eventually, I want to get you & Joey a nice set of bunk beds but it is going to be quite a few years.
Well, I think that is about it. I really hope that you start to feeling better my love!
